Dear Tyler family,
I hope you all are enjoying your summer. I enjoyed time together at the beach with family and friends (and even connected with several Tyler staff members). The 2026-2027 school year is just around the corner and I am excited! Soon, we will be sharing details about upcoming events such as Meet and Greet so be sure to check your email and follow along on our social media and web pages.
I want to share a little about myself for our new families. This is my 25th year in public education, all of them right here in Prince William County Schools. I have been at Tyler since 2008 and truly appreciate this amazing community. I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia (go Wahoos!), my master's degree in special education from George Mason University, and my post-master's certificate in educational leadership from the University of Mary Washington. I love my job and am truly grateful to work with the most amazing staff.
At Tyler, we believe strongly in the partnership between school and home. We offer several ways to stay involved and engaged so be sure to jump right in when you can. We look forward to seeing you at our various events and encourage you to follow along on social media and read our weekly newsletter and messages sent via School Status. Let's make it a great year!
Communication
We use a variety of methods to communicate important information to our families. One way is via email, phone, and text blasts. Please be sure that your contact information is accurate in ParentVUE and that there are no blocks in place. Below are other resources to find helpful information.
Dear Tyler Families:
As another wonderful school year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to thank our students, families, and staff for making this year such a success. It has been a joy watching our Tomcats learn, grow, and achieve so much throughout the year.
As we head into summer, I hope you find time to relax, recharge, and enjoy special moments with family and friends. Whether your plans include travel, outdoor adventures, summer camps, or simply enjoying a slower pace, I hope the season brings you happiness and lasting memories.
This summer marks my 16th year in PWCS and my fifth year as the proud Assistant Principal of Tyler Elementary. Prior to joining this incredible community, I taught 5th grade at Gravely Elementary for eleven years. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and French and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston College, as well as a certificate in Educational Leadership from James Madison University.
When I’m not at school, you’ll often find me outdoors hiking with my husband, Max, reading a good book, or spending time with my son, Oliver, who will be a 5th grader at Gravely in the fall. Summer is one of our favorite times to explore new places, enjoy the outdoors, and make memories together.
Thank you for your partnership and support throughout the year. Have a safe, restful, and fun-filled summer. I look forward to welcoming everyone back in August for another exciting year of learning and growth!
Sincerely,
Leslie Browngold
Assistant Principal
Tyler Family,
My name is Lucy Jensen and I am serving as the Resident Principal for Tyler Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a unique position through Prince William County Schools and Virginia Commonwealth University. Through this position, I will work closely with Mrs. Perilla to support the staff, students, and community at Tyler Elementary through the principalship role.
I am beginning my twenty-third year in public education all within Prince William County Schools. Previously, I served as the Assistant Principal at Mountain View Elementary. I taught third, fourth, and fifth grades for twelve years before entering administration. I have twin fourteen-year-olds who will be entering high school this year. We enjoy spending time outside hiking, kayaking, and enjoying National Parks on our summer vacations.
I look forward to becoming a part of the Tyler community and supporting all the great things happening here!
