Meet Our Parent Liaison: Yolany Carley

Welcome to Tyler Elementary! My name is Yolany Carley, and I am thrilled to serve as your Parent Liaison. My role is dedicated to fostering strong, positive relationships between our school, our staff, and our wonderful parent community.

A Little About Me:

I was born and raised in Honduras and was an English learner myself. I completed my high school education in Fairfax County, where I was honored with an award for outstanding work and good character in English as a Second Language. Being an English learner in a new country, I was fortunate to have the support of passionate educators who inspired me to help all families, regardless of their unique backgrounds and journeys.

After high school, I obtained an Associate degree in Early Childhood Development, which allowed me to explore different career fields, including serving families as a preschool teacher. I also worked in multiple agencies within the Commonwealth of Virginia for five years before arriving at my current position at Tyler Elementary. I am a Certified Spanish-English interpreter for our school division and love learning through employee development trainings. My favorite part of the job is my daily interactions with families, learning about their dynamics, and forming unique bonds with their students. I take pride in representing Tyler Elementary School.

How I Can Help You:

Building Connections: I help connect families, community, and school staff to support student achievement and facilitate communication.
Providing Information: I provide information about Prince William County Schools (PWCS) and our school, directing families to appropriate resources for information and resolution of concerns.
Community Engagement: I develop and coordinate programs to engage families and the community in students’ education and school programs. This includes organizing and participating in outreach programs, consultations, meetings, presentations, and workshops.
Advocacy and Support: I advocate for families, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. I also assist in ensuring multilingual communication at school events.
Communication: I work with school administration to coordinate communications and outreach materials for families, ensuring translation to home languages. I keep records and respond to inquiries via in-person, phone, and email.
